While IBM Power servers are often used to run IBM's own I and AIX operating systems, they also run Linux, one of the most popular open-source operating systems in use today. In fact, there is evidence that Linux runs even faster and more efficiently on IBM Power servers with IBM Power9 chips than on the more popular server platforms that use Intel chips.
